(The Six Virginia HBCUs)
With the recent threats against our Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), we thought it appropriate to highlight the six Virginia HBCUs. (One of the six, St. Paul’s College no longer exists.)
All of these schools, as well as other HBCUs have been the only source, or at least the primary source of higher education available to the Black population for many years, and they still remain of immense value in the lives of the Black community.
In recent years, many of our students have been able to attend some of the traditionally white colleges and universities across the country and have had a great deal of success. Others would not have had the opportunity to achieve higher education without our still valuable HBCUs.
Please see the list of Virginia HBCUs attached.
